Big 12: Fan Crackdown

By Adam Caparell - July 25, 2006

The Big 12 will be looking to police its fans more intensly than ever before, commissioner Kevin Weiberg has just announced.

The Big 12 will be looking to prevent fans from storming the field following victories with a new awareness campaign. Weiberg said his desire is to have fans remain on the field and will look to use players, coaches and special video messages at stadiums relaying that message and his wishes.

Weiberg said he'd like to see video equipment in place in stadiums to monitor fan behavior and be able to use tapes in cases where fans/students run onto the field so that it can be used for judicial review.
