Big 12: Peterson's Goal

By Adam Caparell - July 26, 2006

One thing I quickly forgot about with Adrian Peterson.

It's widely known that Bob Stoops plans on giving Peterson the ball a lot more this season, especially as a receiving back.

But one of the Heisman Trophy favorites will getting the majority of his touches via a handoff. And he's going to put up some yards. How many does he have in mind?

2,200. That would far surpass his freshman seaosn of 1,900-plus yards.

That would still fall way short of Barry Sanders' NCAA record 2,628 yards rushing in 1988, but it's still a pretty lofty goal to obtain in 12 or 13 games.

I don't think he'll be able to with offensive line questions hovering over the Sooners.
