Big 12: Thought These Guys Were Rivals

Who wrote the first letter that Texas coach Mack Brown received after winning the national championship?

It was Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops who faxed over a letter immediately upon Texas beating USC. It was promptly waiting for Brown when he returned to his office.

It seems Brown and Stoops have a good relationship, as usually is the case with many coaches around the country in the same league.

Brown said he's called Stoops to talk about what to expect ipost-championship in terms of the environment and atmosphere after winning it all. He's also talked with Michigan coach Lloyd Carr, Tennessee coach Phil Fulmer and North Carolina men's basketball coach Roy Williams.

He said winning it all, "didn't sink in for a while. I'm not sure it has."
