Big 12: Weiberg Wrap

By Adam Caparell - July 25, 2006

So, in the end, Big 12 commissioner Kevin Weiberg didn't have that much to say and didn't offer much in the news department. Just a lot of status quo stuff.

The television contract for football still has two yeras remaining on it. Their bowl agreements are well in place with the Cotton, Holiday and Alamo all back on board with four year deals. Ties have been added with the Gator Bowl and Sun Bowl, then there's the Insight Bowl in Phoenix, the Indepedence Bowl and the resurrected Houston Bowl.

Weiberg sees no plans in the future to put any games on non-traditional days like Thursday or Friday and didn't offer much insight or news on the BCS.

With the end of the commissioner's address, that wraps up media day for the afternoon. Another reception will take place this evening. When - if it's anything like last night's - free alcohol and food will be pounced on by just about every media member. Hopefully, something highly comical will happen there. There wasn't much action at last night's. The only thing I found comical was watching one man rave about white zinfandel wine.
