How 'Bout Those Vols

By Adam Caparell - September 02, 2006

Well so much for Cal. Tennessee really took the Bears to school with an impressive showing. Especially on defense where the Vols made Nate Longshore look rather pedestrian and limited Heisman candidate Marshawn Lynch.

If there's one thing that seems apparent after the first weekend, its that Cal is not the team everyone thought they would be - including myself. Tennessee was able to dominate Cal's offensive line leaving Lynch on the lurch and made them look unworthy of their No. 9 ranking.

it was a great start for Phil Fulmer and the Vols. Think about how different their fortunes are now. Instead of being 0-1, as many thought they would be after today - including myself - they should be 2-0 heading into their matchup with Florida after facing Air Force next week.

Some people will now say the Vols are back after their horrendous 5-6 campaign last year. Is Tennessee back? Can't say for sure, but they seem to be on their way after a win like this.
