Today’s goal for just about every Top 25 team out there is to avoid the letdown. And so far, some teams heeded that creed better than others.

- If Georgia goes on to lose this game against Colorado, I think the Bulldogs should be bounced from the Top 25 as punishment for what would be an inexcusable loss to a team that is horrible.

- Credit the Michigan defense for again playing another excellent game. Wisconsin QB John Stocco got off to a solid start, but the Wolverines limited him after the first quarter to some pretty paltry numbers. He didn’t complete a pass in the third quarter as the D really clamped down after Chad Henne’s third quarter TD to Mario Manningham. Stocco felt a lot of pressure and Michigan’s D is clearly making a case to be labeled as one of the best in the country. They’re a pretty physical group.

- Clemson took care of business, big time, and didn’t play down to its competition – as they’ve been historically prone to do – in its blowout win over North Carolina. At one point Clemson had more rushing TDs (7) than the Tar Heels had rushing yards. Jump ahead two weeks to Oct. 7 and we should have an unexpectedly big matchup in the ACC. Clemson could have a chance to hand Wake Forest its first loss of the season (the Demon Deacons take care of business against a bad Ole Miss team and at home against Liberty next week).

It’s doubtful that Wake could keep their undefeated record in tact throughout the rest of the season, but what an indictment it would be if the Deacons were ever able to win the Atlantic Division. Their schedule has been pretty easy to date with games against Syracuse, UConn, Ole Miss and Liberty, but it picks up significantly. Over a two span in the beginning of November, Wake will host BC, travel Florida State and host Virginia Tech.
