Worthy Debuts

By Adam Caparell - September 02, 2006

Well, not a bad introduction for Anthony Morrelli, tossing a 42-yard touchdown to open things up for Penn State. He showed off his arm for everyone in a hurry. He's just one of many quarterbacks making their debuts around the nation, and if the current trend continues, everyone should be looking forward to a nice intro to college football.

Colt McCoy looked pretty solid in his Texas debut, throwing for three touchdowns and 178 yards. There were a few less-than-stellar passes, underthrown and thrown behind receivers, but it was an otherwise impressive debut for the redshirt frehman. It wasn't such a memorable day for McCoy's backup, Jevan Snead, who threw an interception in his debut. Texas coach Mack Brown said afterward that he was pleased with the play of both of them. But it seems like McCoy certainly distinguished himself Saturday.
