Healthy Diet of Rice

What a job by Rutgers answering Tyler Palko’s mad dash scramble and touchdown throw in the back of the end zone to bring Pitt within three.

Ray Rice has to be considered one of the top backs in the country. He single-handedly ran Rutgers into the end zone, putting the Scarlet Knights up by 10 when it looked like Pittsburgh was starting to get momentum back on its side.

That was a huge drive, a huge statement by the Scarlet Knights. Rutgers answering right back has to show you something about what kind of team they are. In year’s past, the Scarlet Knights would have let the Panthers defense roll right over them on that offensive possession. 2006 is a different story. Rutgers has confidence and it’s starting to learn how to win games it used to have no business winning.

The defense is again playing well, getting good pressure against Palko. Rutgers is for real. If they can pull this one off, on the road, against a pretty good team, then there’s no doubt about it in my mind that Rutgers is for real and a real contender in the Big East.
