Near Disaster

By Adam Caparell - October 21, 2006

How do you get a roughing the passer penalty on the last play of the game? Stupid play on Brian Orakpo’s part. The Longhorns are just fortunate that it didn’t lead to disaster, but they escape - big time - with a win in Lincoln.

Nebraska certainly measured up better in this game than they did against USC. They showed a little something today and so did Texas – they have a few kicking issues that need to be addressed apparently. But Texas is still alive for a BCS berth, and still has that outside shot at the national title. Win’s a win. Colt McCoy wins another one.

- What do we make of this Michigan State team, coming back from a 38-3 deficit to beat Northwestern. Should we celebrate their accomplishment or should we ridicule them for falling down that much to the Wildcats. I’d go for the later.

- Just when you think Chuck Amato has things going well with his Wolfpack, they go and lose to a bad Maryland team. That’s why Amato’s job security constantly comes up. He beats Boston College and Florida State this year, but loses to Akron and the Terrapins. It’s like they’re schizophrenic or something.
