Anywhere But Alabama

NEW ORLEANS - The news of Nick Saban's hiring at Alabama isn't sitting very well with the LSU fans here in the city for tonight's Sugar Bowl. From disappointed to surprised to shocked, the emotions were different but not the universal feeling of "anywhere but Alabama."

"They got a good coach," one LSU fan said on Canal Street. "I was disappointed. Our head coach (Les Miles) is a harder working recruiter than him. (Saban) missed his chance with us."

"Sick to my stomach," Jeff Nuntz said, sporting an LSU hat and windbreaker, when he heard the news. "We thought he would stay at LSU and Miami offered him the job. We thought he took the job because he wanted to move to the next level. This shows he always wanted to stay in college."

"I'm sick that we lost the greatest coach at LSU that should have stayed and now he's at Alabama and we have to face him every year," Nuntz's son said.

"I wished he would have gone somewhere besides the SEC and Alabama," Mike McKay said. "It's going to be an interesting road trip next year."

Some fans were physically mad when the news broke.

"I threw the phone across the room," Megan Horvin said. "I just don't want to see him in the SEC. I wish he was back at LSU."

LSU may now have it's Benedict Arnold.

"It's kind of like he's a traitor," Tad Henderson said.
