Coker Could Be Catalyst

By Adam Caparell - January 01, 2007

All tied at the half between Tennessee and Penn State in the Outback Bowl. Anthony Morelli is throwing the ball a lot and that’s always fun to see. And how about that stiff arm from Tennessee’s LaMarcus Coker on that touchdown run?

If Penn State’s linebacking corps can’t keep Coker in check then they stand no chance of winning this game. It’ll open that passing attack right up for the Erik Ainge and Robert Meachem could be too much to handle for the Nittany Lions secondary.

- In the Cotton Bowl, I wasn’t sure what kind of effort to expect from Auburn in the Cotton Bowl. How motivated would they be?

But apparently they’ve come to play, although not necessarily with their defense. It could be shaping up to be a shootout in Dallas and that would suit Nebraska just fine. On paper, the Cornhuskers defense pales in comparison to Auburn’s. But the Tigers have been a disappointment this season and their performance early on isn’t bucking the trend. Nebraska has racked up a ton of yards on the Tigers in only a matter of two quick quarters. Whatever happened to the unit that held LSU to only three points?

- The Rose Bowl can’t get here soon enough. Just so we don’t have to hear anymore promotions or commercials about the game. We get it. It’s the granddaddy of them all.
