Bunting Liking Blue's Moves

By Adam Caparell - February 07, 2007

If anyone knows anything about North Carolina, it's going to be their former coach, John Bunting, who recruited a good majority of the players the Tar Heels signed Wednesday.

"I think it's a great class," Bunting said. "I'm excited that Marvin Austin signed. I'm not surprised that Greg Little signed - there's no doubt in my mind that the mother (played a part) and in the back of Greg Little's mind he wanted to be a Tar Heel."

Bunting was also pleased that Dwight Jones stuck with his commitment. There was talk that he might decomitt after Bunting was fired and Butch Davis brought in almost an entirely new staff.

"The two staff members that were retained did a great job," Bunting said. "At one point we were ranked in the Top 15 in-season. After the dismissal, it went down. The great gets at the end should put the class in the Top 20."

Bunting recruited about three quarters of the class, spending about two or three years pursuing them, and he really likes the prospects of UNC next year.

"It's going to come down to the QB play, can they run the football and they need to get the defense back to where it was playing in '05. With the redshirting of basically the entire class last year there's no doubt they have some good young players on both sides of the ball."

JB never stops, he continues doing the right thing for Carolina. There is no doubt that JB left the cupboard full. Always on the day after signing, JB worked to make sure his in-coming freshman got admitted. GO HEELS & THANK YOU JB FOR ALL YOU'VE DONE!
