How Can They Go Wrong

Brian Curtis has been hitting the phones all day long. He's made calls to Wisconsin, Colorado, Colorado State, Tulane, Maryland, Miamii, Pittsburgh, North Carolina, Tennessee and Iowa to name a few.

Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema told Curtis that Wisconsin's 12-1 season really helped them this year to bring in a few more recruits.

A particularly good season doesn't always carry over immediately in recruiting, but for the Badgers and their second year head coach, it did. Wisconsin was able to hang on to most of the home staters and just missed out on a few one.

John L. Smith says there's plenty to like about the Badgers.

"We didn't play them this year, but I saw them on tape and they've got a lot people coming back," Smith said. "They do a great job controling Wisconsin. They keep those kids at home. They have great facilities and a winning program."

Smith also likes the job Bielema has done so far.

"He's been a carryover (from former coach Barry Alvarez) and made some changes to his staff. He brought in some coaches that were his. And to have success you need two things. A great president and a great AD. How can you not have success when Barry Alvarez i's your guy? He's a footballl guy."
