SEC Strong & Bush Light

INDIANAPOLIS - Yes, the SEC is the best conference in the country. Everybody knows it. But the point gets driven home a little stronger when there are six schools from the league that have at least five players at the Combine.

"It says a lot," former Auburn back Kenny Irons said. "It says how strong a conference the SEC is. Most of the talent is in the SEC. Everybody knows that. We have a lot of great players here."

Michael Bush just recently got done speaking with the media. The former Louisville running back isn't going to perform any drills here. His surgically repaired broken leg - that still has a titanium rod and pins in it - is feeling just fine, but he's still in the middle of a 6-8 month recovery process from the injury.

Bush was lost for the season against Kentucky in the Cards season opener and is saving himself for his pro day March 26. That's when he'll run in front of NFL scouts and execs.

Bush is also looking svelte at the Combine. He's down to 243 pounds from his playing weight of 252. He got up to as much as 260-plus pounds after the injury, but Bush said he's in the best shape of his life.

For the first time he had no qualms about taking his shirt off when he was measured and his body fat percentage is down to 13.5 percent from 19. It's Bush Light, but at 243 pounds, he's still a load for any corner or defensive back to bring down.
