Tom's Final Thoughts

By Adam Caparell - February 07, 2007

The day is just about wrapping up now with CSTV's coverage of Signing Day and Tom Lemming, our dead tired and over-taxed recruiting expert, has his final thoughts on his most important day of the year.

"Today was one of the more anti-climatic days I've seen," Lemming said. "Ten years ago there were hundreds of guys making announcments. Signing Day was a big event, lots of tension.

"This year the only news was the decommittments and Joe McKnight and Marvin Austin. Everything else was already done, written in stone almost," Lemming said. "Today was a day of celebration, but not a day of anticipation like it was in the past."

It was a hectic day to say the least for Lemming. He's done over 50 radio shows in the past two days and 100 newspaper interviews. He's fielded a couple of hundred phone calls and almost died Sunday driving in the Buffalo, N.Y. area, stuck in a snow bank on a desolate back road.

Asked to describe his feelings on Signing Day in one word, it didn't take long for Lemming to come up with it.

"Relief."
