Where They Land, Nobody Knows

By Adam Caparell - February 07, 2007

The rumor going around the set is Noel Devine, who was scheduled to sign with West Virginia this morning, is not going to sign with anyone and it's because of Primetime.

The beat on the street is Deion Sanders, Devine's mentor who took Devine into his house at one point, counseled him not to sign with anyone and it could be some time before he inks with anyone.

Jerimy Finch, who had at one point was set to go to Indiana, has reneged his committment and is signing with Florida.

"Florida is just pirating guys," Lemming said.

Urban Meyer continues to add top tier talent and is out-distancing themselves from all the other teams around the country. It's practically comical. No one is coming close - except for USC - to the talent Meyer is starting to stockpile.

One thing thatI think is really sad is that amount of individuals that say yes I am goign to sign with your team and then jsut up and commit to a different team. I jsut wish that H.S. Seniors would think about everything before they decide to commit to a school, then stick with that school. If you are going to do something then stick to what you said and do it. That really irritates me

i think some of you people need to get a clue. when the cameras are on, every one telling you that you are great and you are 18, you are going to play people and schools. the recruiting of these kids is absolutely the problem, not the kids. if a kid commits, shouldnt other schools stop recruiting? is that not the real problem? open your eyes and be wise.

What is the point of waiting longer to sign? Sooner or later most of the top schools will have who they need and he will get stuck with a not so great team. I don't get it.

What's Deion Sanders got to do with anything? He tryin to get Devine a biger contract? What gives him the right?

A little bias-based counceling I'm sure was discussed with Mr Sanders and Mr. Devine, however, in Deion's defense, "been there, done that..". Still, if Mr. Primetime is grooming "Junior" Primetime, that is old news ever since Devine gave Cindy Margolis a challenge as the most downloaded "talent" on the internet. Grandstanding aside, Noel knows Noel, and he understands where his future lies, and that's at a school that is going to showcase his talents AND be tutored in Advanced Running Back 101 by the best...Super Steve Slaton! Noel, trust those you trust around you, but be the man you are and stay true to the Gold & Blue family! NC 2008!

Noel Devine is a flash in the pan. This kid will be serving you fries at Burger King or be in prison by the time he is supposed to graduate.

Noel will definitely not be a "flash in the pan." Sure others have had a wealth of talent and for some reason or another sqaundered their god-given skills. Yet, I can't help but think that Mr. Devine will sign with WVU in the coming days/weeks. Even with Bowden's apparent advocate in Ex-Primetime trying to break the bond between the Mountaineers and Noel, I still believe that the kid's heart rests with WVU (for as along as he has been talking with reporters he has mentioned or praised WVU) and he will eventually sign. Hopefully sooner than later.

Deion Sanders is a Floridia State booster .He is not allowed to
encourage recruits to go to FS . What actions will the NCAA take against FS if this happens ?

What is the difference between what primetime is doing with Devine and the whole situation at USC with McKnight. The rule says that a former player CANNOT have contact with a recruit with the intent of helping the head coach (bowden) sign him. Yeah you might argue that primetime was going to adopt Devine, but that never happened. The NCAA needs to lay off of USC or they should investigate FSU as well!!! see you in Morgantown Devine. Forget about that chump Deion Sanders and come to a REAL University

90% of these coaches dont give a damn about these kids, they promise them the world and when someone better beats them out they are left hanging. Coaches and Administrators at these big schools only care about their last play not their last quarter grades.Deion is no role model and any parent or guardian who entrust their child to him is a loon. When a kid makes an early commitment he should have to sign then and if he breaks his commitment he has to sit out that upcoming season. Would someone in this worl please make someone accountable for their damn actions.I am fed up with politically correct how bout about being ethically correct.

I understand how most people feel about Noel. First off....i agree when a kid commits to a school he should go there. But then again they are kids.....Just a little background info on Noel Divine.....he has the talent to be the best back since Barry Sanders, but he could also be forgotten as most know. Noel lost both of his parents before the age of 15 to AIDS. He saw his friend get shot and killed. Deion went to the same hs as Noel...he took him under his wing and has been helping him get his life straight. He tried to adopt Noel.....but Noel being messed up refused. Yes Deion is obnoxious but his heart is in the right place...Noel was supposedly considering a prep school because he has horrible grades...i expect he will go this route. Just make sure you know the facts before you make a comment. I am an FSU fan....but if Noel goes to WVU good for him which ever can help point him in the right direction.
