NFL Draft: No Quinn To Cleveland

By Adam Caparell - April 28, 2007

NEW YORK - Cleveland going with LT Joe Thomas should tell us all something about Brady Quinn.

Charlie Weis and Romeo Crennel go way back in the NFL and the fact that Crennel did not go with the Notre Dame quarterback should indicate that many aren't sold on what Quinn can bring to an NFL team. Why wouldn't one of Weis' best friends in the league go with the QB who's been groomed by one of the most successful coordinators when Cleveland could definitely use a franchise quarterback?

It also indicates that maybe Weis isn't as sold on Quinn as many would have you believe. You'd figure he'd sell Quinn hard to his friend Crennel if he was the real deal, but it looks like all that smoke Weis blew about Quinn being the quarterback that you couldn't pass up in this draft isn't worth the attention.

Miami should be salivating right now at the prospect of getting Quinn at No. 9. BUt watch out for Minnesota. They could also use a QB at No. 7.
