NFL Draft: Calvin Goes 2nd

By Adam Caparell - April 28, 2007

NEW YORk - The Lions at No. 2 apparently couldn't pass up the opportunity to take the draft's most talented player. Much maligned Matt Millen took his fourth wide receiver with the team's first round selection in his brief tenure with Detroit, but from all indications, Johnson doesn't figure to be a bust like Mike Williams and Charles Rogers.

"Fire Millen" chants started right after the announcement as a few unhappy Lions fans would have rather seen someone else - Brady Quinn possibly? But one thing's for sure, the Lions got an all-world talent that graded out as well as any draft prospect in recent memory. He's going to join the likes of Roy Williams in Detroit to create on of the most dynamic receiving tandems in the NFL for the next several years.

Johnson isn't going to help the Lions win right away, but he certainly has all the potential in the world to be one of the biggest difference makers in the league.
