NFL Draft: Gruden Gets Gaines

By Adam Caparell - April 28, 2007

NEW YORK - Clemson's Gaines Adams goes to Tampa with the fourth selection. Jon Gruden can't be happy with how things have turned out. He wasn't able to get the man he coveted - Calvin Johnson - and was forced to go with someone he's not even really going to coach with Adams being a defensive end.

Gruden didn't need a quarterback - they have about 5,000 of them right now in Tampa - so Quinn wasn't an option - and they didn't need a running back, either. Look for Peterson to be snatched up by the Vikings at No. 7 and Quinn to go at No. 9 right now, unless all hell breaks loose, never an impossible scenario with the draft.

The wildcard right now is Washington. What are they going to do? They're defensive end is off the board. LaRon Landry maybe? They need all the defensive help they can get, but never rule out anything with Daniel Synder. Who knows what he's going to do.
