NFL Draft: Heisman's Going To Baltimore

By Adam Caparell - April 29, 2007

NEW YORK - The wait for Troy is over as Baltimore grabbed the Heisman Trophy winning quarterback with the No. 174 pick in the draft - the last of the fifth round.

Ohio State QB Smith will get to learn under Steve McNair and former Washington coach and current Ravens offensive coordinator Rick Neuheisel. Can he be a viable NFL QB? That remains to be seen. But Smith showed in college that he's as capable as anyone out there - no matter how tall he is. And if he can't cut it at the NFL, he'll be alright because if there's one thing about Smith that I've learned by watching his season unfold and head toward the draft is that he doesn't want football to ultimately define him. He's interested in more.
