Champs Get Good News

Don't overlook the NCAA's ruling that LSU DE Kirston Pittman can return for a sixth year of eligibility. For all the publicity and double teams that Glenn Dorsey received last season - which he rightfully deserved - because he was able to stay healthy Pittman created the most havoc for opposing offensive lines over the course of the Tigers 14 games last year and now he will anchor the LSU defense next season.

Jenkins A Big Catch For Stewart

With Rich Rodriguez unexpectedly leaving for the Michigan job in December, the consensus was West Virginia's recruiting class would fall apart. And despite having just filled his last assistant position only eight days ago, the man appointed to take over for Rodriguez - Bill Stewart - is quite pleased with what the Mountaineers were able to pull in.

To Hawkins Surprise, CU Lands Scott

Colorado's Class of 2008 was shaping up to be a pretty good one, but with the announcement that Darrell Scott - Tom Lemming's No. 2 player in the class - decided Boulder was the place to be, the Buffalos have vaulted up Lemming's team rankings and coach Dan Hawkins is very excited, and surprised, about how things played out.

Irish Starting 2008 Strong

So much for that 3-9 season hurting Notre Dame in the recruiting game. With 11 players in Tom Lemming's Top 100 signed it looks like the Irish could be bringing in the nation's top class.

Florida Does Pretty Well

Florida is not going to bring in the nation's No. 1 class this season. That's a given after the Gators lost out on a few recruits who changed their commitments last minute coupled with the fact Notre Dame and Alabama will be coming in with very strong classes. But that doesn't mean Urban Meyer's crew of freshmen is not supremely talented.

Race Between ND and Bama For No. 1

With Terrelle Pryor apparently deciding to make his announcement another day, much of the day's attention will be turned to Foley, Ala. WR Julio Jones - Tom Lemming's No. 3 overall player - who is deciding between Alabama, Oklahoma and Florida State. And if Nick Saban can land Jones, that just might push the Crimson Tide to the top of Lemming's class rankings.
