Bama Picks Up Harris, Now No. 1

By Adam Caparell - February 06, 2008

The rich keep getting richer as Alabama picked up another top recruit this afternoon with the signing of Tom Lemming's 69th rankied player, LB Jerrell Harris.

Harris joins Lemming's No. 3 player, and top ranked WR Julio Jones, to headline Alabama's Class of 2008. And with the addition of Harris, that looks to have put Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide above Notre Dame for the coveted spot as Lemming's top class this year.

"I think you have to go with Alabama slightly over Notre Dame," Lemming said.

Lemming's analysis on Harris:

"You would be hard pressed to find a backer with his kind of quickness and nose for the ball. He makes plays all over the field, moves up the field quickly and uses his great balance and body control to stay on his feet and find the ball. Very instinctive, he does a great job of slipping blocks and competes hard at all times. The best word to describe him is playmaker. He is a tall rangy backer who can fill out to close to 240."
