A10-Bonnies advance
By Jacob Schwartzstein - May 27, 2006
St. Bonaventure easily finished off George Washington 9-2 and will advance to the finals against St. Louis, to be played at 3:30 today.
The Colonials couldn't get their bats going against Eddie Williams, who retired seven straight batters to end the game and pitched 4.1 innings overall, allowing one hit and one walk. The Bonnies offense spread the wealth, with six different players getting at least one rbi.
GW should be proud of the way they played in the tournament, however. They didn't even qualify for it until the last game of the season and as the sixth seed, they were one game away from advancing to the finals. One of their wins included a huge upset over the No. 1 seed and defending A-10 champions University of Rhode Island Rams.
