A10-Day 3
By Jacob Schwartzstein - May 26, 2006
It's the third day of the A-10 baseball tournament and already several upsets have taken place. Yesterday, No. 5 seed Saint Louis defeated No. 1 Rhode Island 3-1, continuing the trend of low scoring games. Meanwhile, No. 2 St. Bonaventure knocked off No. 3 Dayton in a nail biter, 4-3, and No. 6 George Washington was able to stay alive by bouncing Dayton from the tournament with a 6-1 win in the nightcap.
St. Bonaventure and St. Louis lead off today at noon in a matchup of unbeatens in this double elimination tourney. Eric Rohr will take his 1.90 regular season ERA to the mound for St. Louis while Cody Vincent, who had a 2.43 ERA in the regular season, goes for St. Bonaventure. At 3:30 George Washington takes on Rhode Island in an elimination game.
The forecast for today is not good, with not just thunderstorms, but STRONG thunderstorms possible according to weather.com, though the sun is trying to break through the clouds right now.

Can someone explain why the #2 seed Bonnies are the VISITING team while playing the #5 seed Bilikens? Shouldn't the higher seeded team get the benefit and be the Home team?

During conference tournaments (and the NCAA Tournament), every effort is made to give each team the chance to be the home team.
For the first round games, the higher seed is always the home team. After that, they try to equalize the number of times a team has been the home and road team.
Entering today's contest, St. Louis had played two games and was the road team in each contest. St. Bonaventure had played one previous game as the home team. So, despite being the higher seed the Bonnies are the designated visitor for the contest.
