A10-Dragging along

By Jacob Schwartzstein - May 24, 2006

Game 2 between No. 3 seed Dayton Flyers and No. 6 George Washington Colonials has quite a different feel from Game 1, when St. Louis defeated Charlotte 3-1 in less than two hours.

One hour since the game began, we are only in the top of the fourth inning despite a 0-0 score. The crowd has been very subdued thus far, probably because of the pace of the game. The Colonials' Derrik Lutz, who entered the game with a 1.46 ERA and only 23 walks in 92.1 innings pitched, has struggled to find the strike zone, walking four and hitting one through three innings. Most of his problems have come against right handed hitters, where he has frequently missed low and outside. To his credit, he has bared down when he's needed to, keeping the Flyers off the scoreboard. He also has yet to give up a hit.
