A10-Game 9 preview

By Jacob Schwartzstein - May 26, 2006

Game 9 of the A-10 tournament, which is set to start at 9:28, two and a half hours later than it was scheduled for because of the 17 inning game that preceded it, pits No. 6 George Washington against No. 2 St. Bonaventure.

The Colonials no doubt have a lot of momentum and adrenalin after their dramatic come-from-behind, 17 inning victory over top seeded Rhode Island. How much adrenaline I have left is unclear. I've been here since noon and have already come to grips with the fact that I won't be getting home until after 2 a.m. Of course, with the pitchers on the mound tonight, it could be a slugfest that takes three plus hours.

The big question in this game is stamina. This will be the Bonnie's third game in the tournament and the Colonials' fourth. However, not only did the Bonnies get a long time between their first game today and the upcoming one, the Colonials only got an hour of rest inbetween their last game and this one. Additionally, they have already played the equivalent of two games today.

GW may be running out of arms; starting this game will be Brian Frazier, who has an 0-4 record and a whopping 11.37 era. The Bonnies aren't throwing out a stud either. Jim Britton (2-3, 6.38 era) takes the mound for them.
