A10-GW and St. Bonaventure pick it up today
By Jacob Schwartzstein - May 27, 2006
After a heavy thunderstorm that began in the second inning late last night in the elimination game between the Colonials and Bonnies, the two teams will pick up where they left off, in the bottom of the second inning with runners on second and third with no outs and the Bonnies up 3-1.
Last night, the umpires waited as long as possible for the storm to pass but the only play that would be seen was several players from each team running out of their dugouts and sliding joyously across the wet field.
For GW, Tim Sexton has replaced Brian Frazier on the mound. Last night, Frazier walked five, hit one batter and had three wild pitches in 1+ innings. Britton will continue to go for the Bonnies.
Scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast for later this afternoon. Right now there is a cool breeze and overcast sky.
Though the tournament was supposed to finish today, there is a chance it could finish tomorrow. Because St. Louis has no losses, they would need to be beaten twice by the winner of this game. If St. Louis does lose later this afternoon, they would not play a game afterwards because the A-10 does not want either GW or St. Bonaventure to play three games in one day.
