A10-Rain stops, Rhode Island bats shine
By Jacob Schwartzstein - May 26, 2006
The Rhode Island bats broke through in the second inning against Pat Lehman, and the sun broke through the clouds shortly thereafter.
After a single, hit-by-pitch and a walk, the Rams put the first runs on the board with a bases clearing double from shortstop Mike O'Malley, waking up a rather subdued crowd. Two batters later, leftfielder Daryl Holcomb added a sacrifice fly to round out the scoring in the inning. The Rams added another run in the fifth on an rbi single from catcher Josh Nestor. On the defensive side, Perkins has been rather stingy for Rhode Island, allowing only two hits, two walks and no runs while throwing 69 pitches through five innings.
Despite the ominous forecast today, we only saw about a half hour of light rain and the skies are looking good for at least the rest of this game. Rams seem to be enjoying these break throughs thoroughly.
Going into the top of the sixth, Rams 5, Colonials 0.
