ACC: Love among the Animals

By Eric Sorenson - May 26, 2006

Florida State's 3rd-inning avalanche leads to 7-0 lead.

I spent the first three innings of today's FSU-Virginia game down near the Animals section of the Seminole nation. Things looked a little on the lucky side for FSU early on as the Cavs stranded four runners in scoring position in the first two innings. But the Seminole third changed the game.

Travis Anderson led off the inning with a near home run, hitting it above the 375' sign in right center. Danny Diaz then drove Anderson in with a double to the opposite gap, making it a 1-0 game. Then things collapsed for the usually strong Wahoo pitching.

The inning was punctuated with Ryne Malone's three-run home run that completed the scoring.

FSU now bats in the 4th with the aforementioned lead.

The Animals were pretty riled up as you might expect and kept things mostly clean. Even with the young ones present. They did give third base ump Al Davis a little bit of "We're with you Al. We're on your side."

Al just grinned.
