ACC: Miami wins, and a little stadium talk.

By Eric Sorenson - May 25, 2006

While Miami made quick work of Wake Forest, here are some other ponderables

Miami did what it was supposed to do and dispersed of the Deacons 4-1 in the second game of the day here in Jacksonville. John Jay hit his 5th home run of the season and Manny Miguelez did a stout job on the hill for the Green and Orange, givng up only four hits in 7.0 innings, improving to 7-4 on the season. All American-like reliever Chris Perez once again had a shaky moment or two (got out of bases-loaded jam in 8th), but closed things down for the Hurricanes to get save No. 12.

I spent most of this game in the stands on the 3rd base side - foolishly, I got talked into sitting in the sun for four or five innings - and noticed that all the seats down each line are angled toward the infield, which makes for not having to turn your neck the whole time. It also makes for more even tanning when the sun is out, whether you intended to get some sun or not.

The biggest tease of the year? It has to be the beer taps that adorn all the refreshment stands in the stadium. Man, a cold brew on a day like this sounds absolutely perfect. But, because it's an NCAA-sponsored tournament, they don't sell beer here. Crud! Well... maybe that's good for my sake.

Okay, I'm going down for the post-game press conference. I'll let you know if anything fun happens.

Sneak up to the Sundowner Lounge and get a cold one. In this weather, it should go down pretty quick. You won't miss any action.
Enjoy! We love are park here in J-ville. Come back for Throw-back Thursdays, $1 Bud Night!
