ACC: Ready for the Hall
By Eric Sorenson - May 26, 2006
Seldom-used senior scrub comes through with the game-winning base knock.
Good morning!
At 12:34am, Ben Hall, a .214 hitter, entered the game and slapped a single to left, scoring the swift Taylor Harbin from second base, giving Clemson a scintillating 3-2 win.
Matt Wieters, moving from Catcher to Pitcher, got laced with the loss. Stephen Faris gave up just three hits and struck out eight in 7.0 innings. But the win went to Daniel Moskos, who threw the last two innings.
Funny quirk about the game-winning play: The throw to the plate from left fielder Jeff Kindel was just a little bit late. But the thing that struck me was how many Clemson players came off the bench and nearly got in the way of the relay throw.
Good win for CU, now the Tigers get the day off tomorrow. Which is just another 24 hours for Ben Hall to feel the heroic gloat.
Great game.
