Seldom-used pitcher has come on and held NC State to just three hits through six innings as Clemson leads 4-0.

Interestingly, the buzz in the press box early on was about regional hosting possibilities for the ACC teams. Elliot Avent, the Wolf Pack coach, said yesterday that making the ACC championship round should cement their position as a host institution for the regionals. But interestingly, since the new format in 1999, there has never been a team that finished below 5th in their conference that has hosted a regional.

This year, NC State finished in a tie for 6th overall in the ACC with Florida State. FSU reportedly offered a huge guarantee for hosting too.
