ACC: Tech closes out Canes

By Eric Sorenson - May 26, 2006

The three-run 4th inning put the Jackets ahead to stay. From that point on, Tech pitchers allowed a few dink hits here and there, but never allow the Hurricanes to string together hit-after-hit and cruise to the win.

Every Georgia Tech batter reached base with a hit or a walk and Andy Hawranick doubled in a run and Steven Blackwood slapped an RBI single in the key 4th-inning rally.

No further fireworks occured between the two teams, as I thought they might after the early beanings and glarings these teams traded.

Good crowd tonight too, as 13,280 took in the game as the weather turned much more temperate when the sun went down.

Mercifully, today's action only lasted six hours, compared to yesterday's 14 hour, 35 minute marathon.

more tomorrow.
