ACC: They don't like Al so much

My favorite ump takes some lumps

One of my favorite umpires in the college game is Alexander Davis of Tallahassee, Florida. He's worked numerous College World Series' over the years and I also love his "sky the eyes, crank-the-pulley" strikeout punchout. Best in the game.

Well, both Georgia Tech and Clemson seem to be giving him the business tonight. At one point he didn't allow a Tech batter a time out at the plate and ended up taking a strike. A minute later, Al was pointing into the dugout, barking back. Clemson coaches also have taken umbrunge over his strike zone... which in my unbiased opinion, is perfect.

Maybe the fans of both teams just didn't like how he sang along with that "I've got sunshine... on a cloudy day." between innings, as he pointed stylishly at the other umpires. he got a smile out of it.

As did I.
