Big 12: Cruising in OKC

By Glenn Tanner - May 24, 2006

Baylor leads Nebraska 2-1 in the 7th, and both teams are conquering the winds.

Baylor SS Seth Fortenberry's first three plate appearances had gone BB, HBP, and HBP, but his bomb into right-center just gave the Bears a 2-1 lead. The story of the game has been Baylor starting pitcher Randall Linebaugh. The sophomore has been Baylor's midweek starter and an occassional reliever, and his longest outing of the season has been six innings. He has matched that total today, allowing only two hits so far.

Nebraska's bats continue to slumber. In their last six losses, the Huskers have scored a total of 13 runs. Today's only run came on a laser-beam home run by SS Ryan Wehrle. Big sticks Brandon Buckman and Luke Gorsett are a combined 0-for-4. Buckman is on a 14-game homerless streak, while Gorsett has only one homer in his last 11 games.
