Big 12: Nodding off in Bricktown

By Glenn Tanner - May 27, 2006

As if 10am baseball on Saturday weren't difficult enough, this game features two 0-2 teams and the sparsest and quietest crowd of the tournament.

Baylor has scored four unearned runs in the top of the 6th to make the score 5-1, the final three coming on SS Beemer Weams' third homer of the tournament.

We have a couple of weather events we haven't seen all week. First, we have some moderate cloud cover, keeping it a little cooler. Second, the wind is playing havoc with popups -- two Baylor popups have dropped between Tech fielders. One was a popup by Mike Pankratz behind first that everyone thought was clearly going foul, including Pankratz. Tech fielders were camped out in foul territory waiting for the ball, but suddenly stumbled to the right in panic as the wind grabbed the ball. The ball dropped in the infield dirt, fair by about five feet. Tech's alert first baseman, Jason Seefield, picked up the ball, and noticing Pankratz still standing at home plate, easily shoveled the ball to the pitcher for the out at first.

Texas-Nebraska follow 45 minutes after the completion of this one.
