Big 12: Rock Chalk Hardball!
By Glenn Tanner - May 27, 2006
#6-seed Kansas shocked Oklahoma State and nearly 6000 fans with an 11-6 beat-down. Kansas jumped out to a 5-0 lead early, OSU tied it with a sixth-inning explosion, but Kansas answered with their own 5-spot in the bottom of the sixth and held on for the win.
Kansas completely dominated the first five innings, scoring one in the 2nd and two each in the 3rd and 4th innings, while starting pitcher Sean Land cruised. Land fell apart in the sixth, as the first three hitters went single, walk, homer, and Land was gone. Two more runs tied the score, but only for a little while.
In the bottom of the inning, KU advanced a runner to third with one out, and Frank Anderson surprisingly elected to play the infield in with KU’s leading hitter at the plate. A sharp line drive past the shortstop broke the tie and opened the floodgates. Once national saves leader Don Czyz entered the game in the 8th, it was pretty much over.
Four games here tomorrow, starting with Baylor-Tech at 10am. Texas and Nebraska then play for the pool championship. OU and OSU (both 0-2) follow with the most meaningless Bedlam game ever played, and the night caps off with Kansas and #7-seed Missouri surprisingly playing for a berth in Sunday’s championship.
Should be quite a day…

Enough about the Tigers, everyone knows the top three Louisiana Programs this year are Tulane, University La-Lafayette, and McNeese State.
McNeese wins the Southland, ULL #2 Sunbelt and Tulane did its share as well.
Rita and Katrina did so much damage to Tulane & McNeese that its amazing the production they had with NO FALL PROGRAMS.
The committee needs to make sure Tulane, ULL, and McNeese gets a at-lage bid for what these kids, coaches, and programs had to endure.
