Big East: Bulls getting feisty...

By Barry Loudis - May 23, 2006

A couple of questionable calls and you may think the world is ending in Tampa.

So it was going pretty well until the last two plays of the Irish's at bat and then there was a questionable call on the second half of a USF double play. What "appeared" as a on-time throw to first turned out not to be in the eyes of the 1st base umpire.

Drawing sharp reactions from the crowd, USF ended the inning on the next batter with a pop-out to shallow right field.

Since then the USF fan base has been rallying behind their bulls, who trail 2-1 in the top of the 6th. Chants of "U-S-F!" are met with "LET'S GO IRISH!" from the other side of the field. Again, another sign of how college baseball at this time of year may be better than the pros during the regular season.

As a programming note, all of the games from the Big East Tournament tomorrow and Thursday will be streamed LIVE in's College Baseball Championship Central. Check out all of the offerings if you get a chance.
