Big East: Irish Prevail and Closing Remarks
By Barry Loudis - May 27, 2006
So Notre Dame came out and did what they had to do this afternoon, beating the Louisville Cardinals 7-0 for the Big East Championship crown. Here are some final thoughts from Clearwater.
The three run homer by Notre Dame's Brezovsky in the seventh put them over the top in this game. The Irish are going to be pretty tough in the NCAA tournament. Look for them to go pretty far.
Louisville certainly put up a fight in the bottom of the ninth. At one point they had the bases loaded but left all of them there.
I am pretty certan that Louisville is still going to do well in the tournament. They had a great week with some excellent hitting.
Chris Cates. He is pretty amazing.
Did you hear Jeff Samardzija plays football too?
14 games in 5 days is a lot to take in but that is what championship season is all about.
Wade Boggs. Who would have thought he would have been here? I wish I would have brought my baseball cards.
Thanks to Tom, Dan and the CSTV.com staff for letting me give this "blog" thing a try.
Special thanks to the Big East staff for their hospitality to me and CSTV during the tournament as well as the Threshers staff. They put on one heck of a tournament.
The fans were small in numbers but huge in heart. Always loved that.
Thanks for reading,

explain why ND failed to be selected for a regional site for 2006.
I contend there is a huge ncaa selection bias against northern teams in general and ND in particular.
Also, expain why Stanford makes the tournament with a mediocre 30-25 record.
