Big East: Red Storm Rolling In
By Barry Loudis - May 25, 2006
St. John's managed to power through the last two innings of their matchup with West Virginia tonight, sending the Mountaineers home on day three of the Big East Baseball Championship.
It was apparent pretty early on that St. John's had the game under control. After their big-run inning early in the game, it was apparent who was in charge.
Attendance for the tournament so far has been up and down, but I expect it to be quite brisk tomorrow. Tonight's announced attendance was 812, a far cry from the 1,800+ announced last night and the 2,100+ announced the first day. With it being Friday tomorrow and some pretty big games, I would expect a decent sized gathering, even at 10 a.m. when Rutgers will take on Louisvile.
As we close out the night, I must comment on the condition of the field and this ballpark. It is really quite nice. Very well kept. From the manicured lawn to the cleanliness of the public areas, they really do a good job. Nothing but the best for the Phillies, I suspect.
Until tomorrow
