CUSA: Cougars Strike First
By Jeremy Mills - May 28, 2006
Dustin Kingsbury walked after fouling off six pitches, and Luis Flores' single on an 0-2 pitch brought in the first two runs of the game ... Houston 2-0 after one.
The crowd is good, and still filling in as the Cougars and Owls renew their rivalry. Joe Savery struggled in the first, allowing three hits and a walk as Houston took a 2-0 lead. Luis Flores hit a bases loaded two-out single to rightfield, and Matt Weston jarred the ball from catcher Adam Zornes' glove to plate the second run of the inning.
Matt Farrington coaxed two fly balls and a groundout on eight pitches in the bottom of the frame, so the Cougars are back at the plate and hoping to build on their lead.

C-USA is the most under rated baseball leagues in the nation, this weeks tournament at Rice has been unreal. I just hope the rest of the nation takes notice to what has become one of the premire baseball conferences in the country.

This is definitely a top tier conference, and I've been surprised with the pitching depth exhibited this week. C-USA should get four bids when regionals are announced tomorrow, and that's in a year when ECU and UCF were both down from their normal levels.
