CUSA: Mighty Mouse
By Jeremy Mills - May 24, 2006
Harrison Eldridge is the smallest player at the Conference USA Tournament, but so far he's made the two biggest plays in the field for the East Carolina Pirates.
Mark Hamilton hit a ball to the warning track in the bottom of the first, and Ty Wallace (who homered in the 5th) hit a ball to almost the exact same spot to lead off the bottom of the seventh. Both times, the Green Wave fans rose in anticipation of a momentum building home run. And each time, 5'7" rightfielder Harrison Eldridge climbed the wall to rob Tulane of extra bases, though neither ball was likely to leave the field.
Only one run since my last update -- 9th hole hitter Ty Wallace hit a towering solo home run to left field to draw the Green Wave closer. Through 7 complete, both starters are still in control as the Pirates lead Tulane 4-2.
