SEC: Crash, Bang, Thunk.

So that about wraps it up for the Tigers' SEC season. A rough one, to be sure, by LSU standards, and after tonight's 8-3 loss to Alabama, but you could tell by the mood of the team gathered on the field as the lights went out for the post-game fireworks extravaganza that it was a game sooner than they might have hoped to go home.

Alabama was, quite simply, the better team tonight. Sure, LSU struggled with its pitching early -- Chris Cahill was yanked after 0.2 innings when Alabama opened with three quick runs -- but right hander Chase Dardar put in a decent performance, over 6.1 innings, giving up 4 hits, 3 runs and only 2 walks. The Tigers didn't fare much better the deeper they dug into their bullpen.

Congrats to Alabama's Kody Valverde, who broke an 0-14 hitting slump in the SEC tournament with his seventh-inning home run that put the Tide up 6-1.

While the crowd oohs and aahs at the fireworks, I'm off to Tailgate Town for ribs. Will slog later if I survive...
