SEC: Kentucky Krumbles
By Jessica Garrison - May 25, 2006
Look, if you're going to go down, you might as well go down in style. Kentucky perfected a new kind of crash and burn against Georgia. It looked like coach John Cohen was having some kind of meltdown, yanking pitchers as fast as they could get to the mound.
I think he might've pulled the last guy just because he didn't like his windup. It was getting ugly.
It's safe to say this 41-hit fiasco was out of character for both of these teams. Kentucky slapped three extra runs on in the ninth to finish down 16-10, but it's still an in auspicious way for a team that looked hot late in the year to go down.
The real kicker is that this game started at 10 a.m. Central and is just now wrapping up almost four hours later. The SEC schedule gods were counting on three hours for each of their contests so unless Alabama can make short work of Arkansas (or vice versa, the way this weekend's been rolling), we're going to be trailing the scheduled start times all day. (Alabama-Arkansas' 1 p.m. start is now a 2:35 p.m. first pitch. Oy.)
I saw a guy playing internet poker in the press box...with three more games ahead of us today, it could come to that. In the meantime, I'm going for a creamsicle.

Why is everyone knocking Kentucky and Coach Cohen? Lets face it, Cohen has turned the program around. I know the game was bad, but please, Coach Cohen isn't an idiot, he has done wonders with the UK baseball team.
