SEC: Tide Is Out
By Jessica Garrison - May 27, 2006
So Georgia might've earned itself one last chance to get into the SEC tournament final, but Ole Miss staked its claim to the other final spot with a 9-2 statement victory, sending the hometown Tide fans back to their tailgates for good.
Alabama didn't put up much of a fight, overwhelmed instead by the Rebel bats that have been hot all tournament. With a combined 36 hits over three games, and a pair of nine-run victories to add to their slaughter-rule 12-run win, Ole Miss is an offensive force to be reckoned with. Add to that solid pitching, today from Lance Lynn and Garrett White, and an error-free performance today, and you have the Rebs looking like a juggernaut in the tournament final. They are, after all, the only undefeated team left standing.
Vanderbilt's Pedro Alvarez just opened the scoring in the second game of the day against Georgia, tying the Vanderbilt school record with a solo home run. 1-0 Commodores. Let's see where this one takes us...
