Athens: Ball, meet Kudzu. Nail, meet Coffin

By - June 10, 2006

The pine trees have been bombarded in left, the scoreboard has been attacked in right. Why not go deep right and attack Kudzu Hill? That's what Robbie Grinestaff must've been thinking, as he smashed a 3-run lunar probe into the heavy patch of kudzu in right, making it a 15-4 Carolina rout.

The home run blitzkrieg by the South Carolina Gamecocks has just floored everyone, from media, to fans, to players at Foley Field this afternoon. Georgia players have got to be wondering what's in those bats, or what's in the Gatorade in the Gamecock dugout. Very rarely, in any form of baseball, has sheer power simply dominated in playoff baseball. Carolina has performed as well at the plate as any team could possibly dream of.
