Athens: Birds of Prey: Carolina wins 15-6

By - June 10, 2006

The blowout is official, as South Carolina takes the first game 15-6. The Gamecocks provided the crowd, and UGA players, a costly clinic on home run hitting. Eight (that's right, eight!) home runs by the Gamecocks scored all 15 runs in an offensive performance that left most Bulldog fans simply speechless.

There's more to come from Day 1 of this Super Regional. I'll have a final analysis, as well as bringing you a story about the vibrant downtown Athens area that is hosting this Super Regional.

Once again, South Carolina wins this one 15-6. Game 2 starts at 4:00 pm EST on Sunday.

Seth, look further down the web page on Athens Super Regional coverage. I mentioned the 5 straight home runs in a previous article, and I'll have more thoughts on that record performance later on in the wrap-up post.
