Athens: Crisp blasts HR, up 3-0 early

By - June 10, 2006

Georgia's had South Carolina's number this season, but it doesn't look like the Gamecocks are intimated early.

Andrew Crisp sent a Westphal pitch deep and over the wall in the left center power alley, scoring Phil Disher and Justin Smoak, and the Gamecocks jumped quickly to a 3-0 lead over Georgia.

An eruption of cheers broke out among the first base bleachers, as Gamecock fans celebrated the early lead. Certainly, jumping out in the first with a fury can't hurt Carolina's chances. There are pros and cons playing a Super Regional against a team you know, at a stadium you've played in before, but the Gamecock's first is nothing but good for the fans in garnet.

Harris Honeycutt works against the top of the Bulldog order as we move to the bottom of the first.

7-0 with four home runs. I am a worried gamecock. 9-0 in the SEC tournment. 8-0 5 home runs. This is a dream and nightmare for us. 9-0, I can not keep up.
