Athens: Important 1-2-3 for Brown, Georgia
By - June 11, 2006
Andrew Cruse had done a superb job of getting the Gamecocks out of the top of the 6th, giving Carolina a real chance to steal the momentum back after Robbie Grinestaff cut the lead to 2. But Brooks Brown had other ideas for South Carolina in the bottom of the sixth.
Brown set the Gamecocks down 1-2-3 in the 6th to keep Georgia up 7-5. Though it's a zero on the scoreboard, I see that as a critical inning for Georgia. This has been a series of runs and streaks, and momentum has played huge, giving Carolina a rout in Game 1, and a big lead at the start of this game before it jumped to Georgia and surged the Bulldogs ahead.
This is a close game right now, and every hit, every run, and every out for both teams will play a crucial role in deciding the outcome. For Brooks Brown to set Carolina in order was a much bigger deal for Georgia than you might've thought.
