Athens: UGA fans beginning to head home

By - June 10, 2006

As innings are running out for Georgia to make any dent in South Carolina's 11-run lead, the crowd at Foley Field has significantly dwindled, as Bulldog fans seem to have conceded this one to the visiting Gamecocks.

The Bulldogs look absolutely stunned and dejected out on the field. These guys weren't expecting anything like this to happen, and it shows. Even after the miraculous 5 HR inning, the Bulldogs seem completely overwhelmed by everything that's happened. David Perno will have his work cut out for him when this game is over.

As for Carolina, their energy is contagious, and their fans have caught the fever. Carolina refuses to let up on this blowout of a game. The Gamecocks continue to play aggressive, forcing UGA pitchers to throw strikes and continuing to batter the Bulldog pitchers. Carolina seemed relaxed, yet focused from the start. They knew exactly what it would take to win, they knew the field, they knew their opponent, and they've handled it the way a championship baseball team does.
